production company logo design

16th June 2008

A small company offering bespoke high quality video production came to LogoPro in May. The design brief asked for a logo design that was ‘simple and clean, modern but classic’ with a special request for ‘no cheesy clip arty looking cameras or camera operators’. Our logo designer particularly enjoyed working on this concept and seemed to click with the client and their requirements. Even though our service is an online logo design service, it is still possible to build up a real rapport with clients via email and sometimes telephone conversations. We are currently working on their stationery designs, then who knows …

Search Engines, Unheard Of 20 Years Ago, Now Dominate All Our Lives Whether You Are Looking To Buy Or Sell. 75% Of Hits To Our Web Site Come From The Google Search Engine When Searching The Phrase ‘logo design’

29th May 2008

As an online logo design company, we depend on search engines for our bread and butter. Because this is a matter close to all our hearts we spend many hours working on promoting the logopro.co.uk web site. Logo design and logo designer are search phrases that are highly competitive, check for yourself, search ‘logo design’ on google and you will have nearly 30 million sites all competing for a top position for that search term. To give this some perspective, check the term ‘estate agent’, that will generate just over 2 million.

Part of assessing our performance is to look at the statistics on our google analytics reports. It is always dishearting to see what a hold google search has over the web browsing public. We generally get in the region of 1500 hits a month, of that total at least 75% will have come from google, yahoo comes a poor second and the other seach engines hardly get a look in!

If You Are Looking For A Career In Graphic Design Don’t Be Put Off With Helpful Comments Like ‘You Would Have To Be Exceptional To Make Any Money Out Of It’ Or ‘Train In A Proper Job And Do Graphic Design In Your Spare Time’. Graphic Design Is Work, Like Any Other Profession, It Is Also Rewarding Both Materially And Emotionally

Being in a creative profession, graphic designers can become bogged down by the 9 to 5 routine, a time frame more suited to less emotional occupations. The image of tortured artist only really applies to fine artists but there are times when we are presented with a brief that presents a great white blank canvas in the mind. At times like these what is required is hard work to try and understand the product or business, coming at it from different angles to get a new view. Inevitably there will be something that ignites a spark of an idea or ideas. From that first moment of anguish to the excitement of bringing to light a concept that will inspire the client and their customers is what makes the art of logo design a career that is both exhilarating and rewarding.

In short, the art of creating a good logo design is not something that happens in a moment – it is a process.

If You Need A Revamp Of Your Existing Logo Design, Don’t Underestimate The Time, Effort And Imagination Required To Give Your New Logo A Fresh Look That Will Be Mememorable And Have Impact

Lambi-Nairn, the branding agency responsible for O2, Hotels.com and BBC2 promotions, to name a few, are responsible for the new branding on BBC News. For a cool £550.000, the agency has produced a new look which has caused little stir in the media apart from a half hearted attempt to criticise it for causing epileptic fits, unfounded apparently, the new design complies with guidelines and has passed tests for flashing images.

The BBC wanted to keep certain elements of their existing branding, including the logo, the font, the red and the use of the globe.

It’s easy to underestimate the amount of work involved in redesigning a logo, keeping certain characteristics does provide some boundaries for the logo designer but to actually create a fresh new logo design requires concentrated work and of course, imagination.

Is It True That Any Response Is Better Than No Response To A New Logo Design No Matter How Poor Or How Badly Researched The Design?

Tuesday, May 06, 2008

The Office of Government Commerce spent £14,000 on a new logo design. Simple circles for the letters OGC, looks striking and contemporary, but after the new logo was unveiled and various promotional office equipment emblazoned with the new design, employees were quick to see what the logo designer missed, the amusing double entendre when the logo is viewed on it’s side.

The criticism of the branding was brush aside by the OGC, a spokesman standing up the the bespoke logo design said ‘we concluded that the effect was generic to the particular combination of the letters’.

And as with the London Olympic logo, it is thought that any response is better than no response!

new logo design for referencing agency

1st May 2008

Easy-check, a referencing agency, came to us in December 2007 asking for a new company logo design. But as sometimes happens, setting up a new online business involves a lot of work and often takes longer than expected. We were more than happy to pick up where we left off with easy-check and complete the design process with them several months later.

The design brief from our client, requested ‘clean bold contemporary lines, eye catching and memorable colour (orange as main colour)’.

We hope to be working with easy-check on their new web site design, creating a web site that works well with their new branding.

Launched this week in London’s Selfridges, a Rosé Champagne by Bollinger. The graphic designer, Lewis Moberly, who has offices in Paris and London, and who created the original identity has chosen to use pink pearlised foil with a similar colour and effect on the box, with a classic and minimal use of text. Overall the look is conservative and there is always a danger when using those warm pink colours that a prosthesis will instantly spring to mind. Still who cares if your are enjoying a chilled glass of Champagne!
